Why become a freelance nomad?

At the beginning of the year, many wonders: is my job still right for me? Is that what i want to do in the next few years? Does my work fulfills me personally? Is what does a digital nomad do what i want for myself?

  • Unsatisfied with your job? The time for a fresh start is now,
  • Become a digital nomad if you want to work independently,
  • But be careful: the possibility of digital nomadism is a matter of personal will.

So, if you are asking yourself the question should i become a freelance nomad, make sure to read carefully below advice and information.

The advantages of becoming a freelance nomad

What is freelancing is a remote type of work. The point is that a representative of a company or an intermediary between a customer hires a virtual performer for a fee. Such an employee is called a freelancer.

The vast majority of freelancers work from home and only travel on holidays or weekends. This is the main advantage of the freelancer nomad activity.

Whether you are an online entrepreneur or a freelancer: being your boss, being able to work anywhere, has its charm. I use a mixed model.

With a permanent residence in my hometown, i spend several months as a freelance nomad traveling, but also spend a lot of time in the united states. Because i have a choice, the freedom that this form of work brings with it remains unsurpassed.

I can decide at any time when i want to be where. Just the possibility of deciding on your place of work and residence yourself, even if you do not use it permanently, is a real added value for me of this working model.

My job is always there, and thanks to digital technologies can be performed from anywhere in the world, only using an internet connection and having some space to setup my laptop.

Difficulties of becoming a freelance nomad

Some digital nomads work are remote workers - so they enjoy the security of permanent employment and live anywhere; as a rule, however, the life model as a freelance nomad goes hand in hand with independence in most of the best digital nomad jobs that anyone can pick up.

In my opinion, it is precisely this independent work that is the critical point of digital nomadism - and i do not mean a possibly unfamiliar work environment or homesickness.

Whether someone is suitable for self-employment and has sufficient discipline and organizational talent is primarily a matter of personal implication. The feeling of insecurity that accompanies every self-employed person must also be able to be endured by the aspiring freelance nomad as it will for sure happen at some point.

After all, no freelancer knows the order situation of the day after tomorrow, and this situation can be difficult to live.

Also, freelance nomads are very vulnerable to seasonality and any kind of market change, that can affect from a day to another the earnings and workload of a digital nomad.

What does it take to become a freelance nomad?

Become a freelance nomad: if you want to change something, you also have to be willing to give up something.

Digital nomadism is, therefore, by no means the all-purpose solution for a fresh start. It's just a new work model that promises a lot of freedom - you have to like it and be ready for it.

My advice: take a close look at what makes you dissatisfied in your job or what makes you think about starting over. Is it the work content - which can usually be easily changed by talking to a supervisor or changing jobs - or are you rather disturbed by the generally more difficult framework conditions of your current employment setup?

For you to succeed as a freelance nomad you must be willing to sacrifice a lot and also be a risk taker. One thing is fore sure: if you are dissatisfied with your job and want to change your situation, you have to be willing to give up something - for example, the feeling of security.

Should you become a freelance nomad?

It is always a good idea to think about the possible consequences of quitting. On the other hand, you should not get discouraged by any concerns and be prevented from acting.

What matters most is your personal well being. If you are really unhappy where you are now, and are willing to give up some comfort from a standard job for the uncertainty of a world of infinite possibilities, then becoming a freelance nomad might be the right choice for you!

In this sense: a new year with many new beginnings - or many more months and years with constant change!
